“Human Centric Digital Fabrication Guiding System” will introduce to participants of the workshop the research agenda of Human + Machine Fabrication System currently explored investigated at Obuchi Laboratory at the University of Tokyo. Since 2014, Obuchi Laboratory has been developing an alternative logic to fabricate via CNC processes. Instead of relying 100% on the accuracy of machinic processes of conventional digital fabrications, the lab has been exploring the possibility of embedding anatomy and physicality of humans who engage in the production processes.
I am the TA for this course offered by Yusuke Obuchi in Tsinghua University Summer School 2917. In this course, we used AR code and 3D scanning to facilitate the design and construction of a sculpture at human scale. Below are the selected student works.
